Jade Lemon Essential Oil

I have to say I am so pumped about this month’s promotion of Jade Lemon Essential Oil.  It is one that I have been wanting to try for a while!  I have read and talked to many people who LOVE it!  Let me tell you a bit about it courtesy of Dr. Woolley from Young Living.

Jade Lemon Essential Oil

So let me give you a brief overview of Jade Lemon Essential Oil in case you had trouble with the YouTube clip:

  • It’s grown in Taiwan, which is a warm and humid climate.
  • While other lemons begin to release some of their oils aromatically as they turn yellow, the jade lemon fruit remains green even in maturity, allowing the concentration of oil to continue within the fruit.
  • Jade Lemon contains high levels of d-limonene, which helps invigorate, uplift, and energize
  • Jade Lemon contains high levels of d-limonene supports clarity of thought and purpose.
  • Jade Lemon supports skin health but be careful in the sun with photosensitivity & UV rays
  • Jade Lemon helps open and release emotional blocks
  • Jade Lemon is useful to clean, detox, and purify.
  • A 1995 Mie University study also found that citrus fragrances induce relaxation and invoke feelings of happiness.

Spring Diffuser Blends

spring-rain

Spring Fever!!  I’ve caught it & it’s not just for Baseball!!   Hopefully the weather where you are is screaming “Spring”.  It sure is here & I am soooo ready to say good-bye to winter!  Let me clarify by saying “Spring” here means 60 degrees one day & 30 the next with snow showers.  Did I mention I am ready to say “Bye-Bye” to winter?  The good thing is that I can make it seem (& smell!) like Spring by diffusing some Essential Oils to create a “Spring Day” on those days when it isn’t exactly “Spring” outside.

The great thing about diffusing, is you can mix & match Essential Oils to create a smell that smells good to you.  You just need to adjust the drops until it is “just right”!  These recipes are some that my family, as well as other people enjoy.  Give these Essential Oil Blends a try & see what you think!  Bonus: some of the Essential Oils (Peppermint, Lemon, Lavender, & Joy) found in these recipes are in the Premium Starter Kit .   An added bonus:  A home diffuser is also in the Premium Starter Kit!   A win-win!!

Use Essential Oils To Help Sell Your Home!

Thinking Of Moving or Know Someone Who Is?  Do You Know A Realtor?  YES!  Then Be Sure To Read This Post!

Use Essential Oils To Help Sell Your

I noticed  “For Sales” signs popping up as I was driving.  A sure sign that Spring is on the way & you may have thought it was spotting a Robin!! 😉   I exhaled a huge sigh of relief that it wasn’t me this time!  We have moved a few times since we have been married- 6 to be exact, but who’s counting!   All of our moves have been positive experiences where we have made friends & great memories.  Our most recent & LAST move (I pray!) has been back home to the Midwest this past August.  As much as I enjoyed living in the East Coast & Georgia, there is nothing quite like being back “Home.”

For each move we did the typical “de-cluttering” which meant renting a storage unit for all those large plastic tubs filled with clothes saved for my youngest son, holiday decorations (Yep- I’m one of those people who decorate for each holiday) & other things we weren’t ready to part with.  The memories of “WE HAVE A SHOWING IN 30 MINUTES!!” & frantic last-minute picking up makes me shudder even now!  To top it off, I felt compelled to have freshly baked chocolate chip cookies sitting on the table to tantalize the potential buyer & to fill the house with their delicious aroma, covering up any lingering odors. (Did I mention I have 3 active teenage boys & a beautiful Golden Retriever who loves to roll in the freshly mown grass?)  Yep, a “few” smells to cover up for sure!

The baking always put me in a tizzy- well, not the baking itself, but the clean up! Who wants to wash those last-minute baking pans & bowls when there are stinky socks sticking out from under beds? If only I had discovered Essential Oils– it would have made a very stressful situation, less stressful.

Research Supporting Essential Oil Use for Selling a Home

A study out of Washington State University by Eric Spangenberg, found that the right aroma will influence people to buy something.  His study used a straightforward orange aroma vs. an orange-basil blend. The results showed that sales went up by 20% when the plain orange scent hung lightly in the air. He also stated that simple, straightforward scents like lemon or cinnamon are easier to “process” than complex smells like chocolate chip cookies (which have mixed odors of vanilla & chocolate.)   Read the full article here.

There are also articles in “US News & World Report” & “The Morning Call” which talk about using Essential Oils to help sell your home.   They point out that Essential Oils are “naturally distilled from plants” & thus less likely for a person to show an adverse reaction from the synthetic fragrances found in candles, plugs ins, or a room deodorizer.

How Do You Use Essential Oils To Sell A Home?

  1. The easiest way to scent any room is with a Diffuser. The diffuser disperses the essential oils into a fine vapor, spreading the oils into the air.
  2. Another method is to place a drop or two onto a cotton ball & place them unobtrusively on a shelf or in a vent.
  3. You can also mix Baking Soda & an Essential Oil together in a container & sprinkle it over your carpet- then vacuum away!  Be sure to first test on a small area out of view.

Some Helpful Tips:

  •  Always “test drive” diffusing before showing a house. Practice diffusing a few times to determine the “correct” amount of oil drops to place in the diffuser. You don’t want it overpowering or too light.
  • Avoid over-powering scents like flowery ones.
  • Don’t use “fake “ scented products like candles, warmers, or plug-ins. They can be overpowering, cause the buyer to think  you are trying to hide something, PLUS they are made with synthetic chemicals which could cause adverse reactions.
  • Try to match the location or “mood” of your home with the oil. Do you have a home near the woods? How about trying some pine? Is it near the beach or a bright area?  Diffuse a Citrus Essential Oil- like Lemon.  Added BONUS: Citrus Essential Oils are “mood uplifting”, which is exactly what you want from a potential buyer!

How Do You Get A Diffuser?

A diffuser is sold as part of the Premium Starter Kit AND even more exciting… Lemon is one of the 11 oils in the Premium Starter kit!  A win-win for sure!!   To learn more about the Premium Starter Kit, click here

Orange Essential Oil

Another one in the Citrus line of Young Living Essential Oils is Orange (Citrus sinensis) .  I have to say I LOVE the smell. During the holiday season, I diffused it with Thieves for a wonderful, seasonal smell.  It defiantly put me in the Holiday Spirit!   To “mix it up” in my endeavor to drink more water, I will add a few drops to my water glass. It’s a nice change.

A Bit About Orange Just Because…

The Spanish and Portuguese brought bitter oranges to the Americas in the 1500s. In Chinese folk medicine, bitter orange was used as a tonic and carminative to treat dyspepsia. Dried bitter orange was used to treat many abdominal and gastrointestinal problems.

In Europe and South America, bitter orange flowers and oil have been used for many medical conditions.

Bitter orange oil is used extensively to flavor many food products, alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages, frozen dairy desserts, candy, baked goods, gelatins and puddings, meat and meat products, and condiments and relishes.

Lemon Essential Oil

Lemon Essential Oil is another one of top oils that I use on a daily basis. I keep it on my kitchen counter with my other “daily” essential oils. It makes it very convenient to add it to my water or smell it. Since I started using essential oils, I don’t’ think I’ve missed a day where I have not used lemon. I used to add lemon juice to my water, but now I use Lemon Essential Oil. It is so much easier to add  a drop or 2 to my water or to our morning smoothies rather than squeezing or slicing a lemon.

I also use it when I need a “mood life”.  I diffuse it or will even just sniff it straight from the bottle.   Lemon is one of my favorite odors, it makes me happy!   Honestly… I think of it like sunshine in a bottle.    When I smell it it helps lift my mood- think sunlight sparkling off freshly fallen snow. Yes, it is winter and I live in an area where we get a fair amount of snow.  In my opinion the sparkles off the new snow is a BEAUTIFUL sight!

Lemon Essential Oil

Young Living describes Lemon Essential Oil as:

  • Revitalizing & uplifting
  • Purifying
  • Antioxidant
  • May be beneficial for the skin
  • Refreshing in water
  • Enhances flavor of foods

The Young Living Blog  is also a great resource to find other great uses for Lemon Essential Oil. Be sure to check it out!

Did you know:

It takes 75 lemons to make one bottle of Lemon Oil & 3,000 lemons to produce one kilo of oil.  Now that’s a lot of lemons!!

d-Limonene

Lemon Essential Oil contains 68 percent d-limonene, ?   As you may recall from my previous posts, Limonene (d-limonene) is a protectant and powerful antioxidant that is contained in the peels of citrus fruits i.e. grapefruit, orange and lemon. (Essential oils are included in this too!)   To read more from the NIH on the protective effects of d-limonen click here

About Lemon, Just Because….

The lemon originated in Southeast Asia. Its history is sometimes unclear because of the confusion with the similarly appearing citron (a closely related species.) It is thought that the lemon may have been depicted in Roman artwork as early as the first century AD.

In the 1600s, physicians became aware that daily intake of lemon juice would prevent outbreaks of scurvy (a disease caused by a lack of Vitamin C) among sailors on long sea voyages. Therefore, English ships were required by law to carry enough lemon or lime juice for each sailor to get 1 ounce daily.

The California lemon industry became established after the gold rush of 1849. From 1940 to 1965, lemon production increased and the United States became a major provider of lemons worldwide.  More than 50% of the US lemon crop is processed into juice and other drink products. The peel, pulp, and seeds are used to make oils, pectin, or other products. To read more about Lemons & so much more click here.
